Prepaid BlackBerry services launched in India November 30, 2008

Good news for all Blackberry users, Prepaid services are been launched for Blackberry services. Reliance Communications, India’s leading CDMA provider has joined hands with RIM to bring BlackBerry devices closer to the people by launching prepaid services. The prepaid services are launched for both CDMA and GSM networks.

BlackBerry smartphones were till recently only available on Bharti Airtel and Vodafone. Bharti Airtel and Vodaphone are two of the largest GSM providers in the subcontinent with postpaid connections, but now with this new “pay as you use” or prepaid service, Reliance targets to woo the 200 million people who rely on prepaid connections even now.

Reliance Communications President for Mobile Data and Content Services, Mahesh Prasad said, “We recognize the needs of customers and believe a prepaid option enabled by Reliance Communications will significantly broaden the consumer’s interest in BlackBerry smartphones and expand our business opportunity”.

In this prepaid option, Reliance is offering up a whole range of devices, which include:
BlackBerry 8703e (CDMA)
BlackBerry 8830 World Edition smartphone (CDMA & GSM)
BlackBerry Pearl 8100 (GSM)
BlackBerry Pearl 8130 (CDMA)
BlackBerry Curve 8330 smartphone (CDMA)
BlackBerry Curve 8300 smartphone (GSM)
